The True Blues & The
Two Biblical Friendship
by Elizabeth Paige
The Bible gives us many types of good friendships, but two of my favorites are what I call “The True Blues” and “The Angels Unaware”.
“The True Blues” are the friends that stand by your side through thick and thin, are there for you no matter what, know you through and through, and always have your back. These friends are truly worth their weight in gold, and are a rare and precious treasure indeed. This is shown beautifully in the covenant friendship of David and Jonathan, as laid out in 1 Samuel 18. David and Jonathan were like brothers, and loved each other enough to do anything for each other. They were loyal and completely transparent and trustworthy with each other, and were willing to defend each other’s lives, no matter the consequences.
“The Angels Unaware” are those who seem like angels—who come into our lives for just a season, and make all of the difference in the world, and then leave without a trace, except that knowing them, even for a brief moment, made you a better person. They are often nameless and faceless, yet showed up at the most critical point in your life and helped you in your hour of need. The Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37) is an excellent example of such a friend. Unlike the religious leaders who saw a man in tremendous suffering--yet did nothing for him—he took it upon himself to care for a stranger in need, expecting absolutely nothing in return. That’s why he is like an angel.
So, be a true blue friend, who can always be counted on, look for opportunities to bless a stranger in need, and allow the “Friend who sticks closer than a brother” (Proverbs 18:24), to be your very best Friend, and to love a hurting world through you.
He's Looking for a Bride: Preparing the Bride of Christ for Holy Intimacy with Jesus
He’s Looking for a Bride is soap for the soul, a deep-cleansing book to prepare the Bride of Christ for true, holy intimacy with the King of all Kings. Perfect for individuals, couples, and small groups, He’s Looking for a Bride is a complete Bible study, loaded with soul-searching Scriptures and powerful testimonies that lead you into more intimate fellowship with Jesus.
Jesus washes us with the water of the Word to prepare for Himself a Bride without spot or wrinkle of any kind. I don’t know about you, but I still have a few spots… and a few wrinkles. I desperately need the cleansing power of His Word. How about you?
Through the pages of this humble book, the Lord Himself wants to peel back the layers of your Christian walk, to the very thoughts and intents of your heart, to purify you with His perfect Word, so that you will be ready—not only on that triumphant day when He returns—but here and now, to enjoy true holy communion with Him like never before.

Thanks so much for visiting today, Elizabeth, and sharing your thoughts on Friendship - I can so relate to what you've written about - I've had several of those angel types that pop in and out of my life and have a couple of true blues. (that's a very Aussie saying for an American, Elizabeth)
This post is part of a series on Friendship as we celebrate the release of the paperback versions of the Spiralling books .
