~ An Aussie Review ~
An Inspirational Romance Review...
After living a life of
wealth and privilege, young Bay Anders finds herself lost. Her step father sets
her up with an allowance to allow her to flee from America and pursue her photography hobby in Australia while
grieving the loss of her mother. She begins her search for her father but when
her allowance is cut off, she soon runs out of funds and feels she has no other
option but to return to LA.
A miracle meeting leads her
to meet Flynn McKenna who is hiding from the world on her father's island. But
her father's mysterious disappearance is of grave concern.
Developers lurk, pressing
for the sale of the island. Bay must fight an uphill battle to keep the new
place she wants to plant her roots and call home.
I loved this book!
Some thoughts while
reading...
Where is home and what does
home feel like? My home is South East Queensland, I've never ventured more than
an hour from where I was born. I don't need to because I love it here, where
temperatures rarely drop below 20 degrees and there's always an air-conditioned
room, pool or ocean nearby in summer. I live in paradise. But home is more than
your surroundings. What else makes where you live home to you?
Does money change a person? This scenario came to mind while reading.
Invitation A - a night with
movie stars. ' You are invited to LA. You flights have been paid for in first
class and all your transfers from the moment you leave your house will be in a
limousine. Your accommodation is in a
5star resort and all meals will be paid for.
Invitation B - a cousins
wedding. 'You are invited to Mackay and
may have to get several connecting flights, call your travel agent. You'll be
picked up by a friend of a friend in a little rusty Datsun. There is a fold out
bed, it will be in the lounge room with the family who are happy for you to
stay with them. You'll meet them after you get there. If you could pitch in for
food during your stay that would be great.'
Would you say yes to both
straight away? Would more money or less money change you?
Give-a-way
The lovely most amazing Rose Dee is playing the generosity game and has a book to give away to one of my readers. All you have to do is leave a comment at the end of the post to be in the running. Give-a-way closes and will be drawn using Random.org on Monday night 8pm Queensland time.
Interview ..
Rose
you have written some charming characters in Back to Resolution, who is your
favourite and who was the most fun to create?
That’s
a really hard question to answer, it’s kind of like asking a Mother which child
she loves the best. I have to be boring and say I love them all, but as to who
was the most fun? It has to be Amos and Neville. They are seriously fun
characters, and mainstays throughout the entire three book ‘Resolution’ series.
I often giggle when writing dialogue for them. They never fail to amuse and
surprise me at their antics.
Have
you always written? Were you inspired by a book or an author to jump in and
have a go?
I only
started writing a few years ago. ‘Back to Resolution’ is the product of my very
first attempt. I think it was the right time in my life. A lot of things came
together, personally, spiritually, and mentally. If I had started prior to this
I think it would have taken me longer to get there. It was when I realised that
there were Australian Christian Romance Authors that I thought – ‘I should have
a go at this and see what happens’. It is also true that the Lord placed this
on my heart to do. Without His direction I never would have gone there.
Who is
your favourite author and why?
This
is in no way meant to sound egotistical, but I am my favourite author. I write
what I love to read, and as yet I haven’t tired of re-reading my work. I still
laugh at all the funny bits, and cry at the sad scenes. I still also love the
tummy dropping romantic moments too. The thought that others will enjoy this as
much as I have is just the icing on the cake for me.
But
there is one author and one book that I also never tire of – Jane Eyre by
Charlotte Bronte. It’s my all time favourite. I read it ever few years, and yes
– I have all the TV and movie versions. (none are as good as the book – of
cause).

Disclaimer ~ This book was given to me at a Light The Dark party for reviewing purposes. After I read and loved book Rose offered a give-a-way.
Yay, good on you, Rose. I love to see an author admit that they are their own favourite author.
ReplyDeleteI loved this book too, Michelle.
Your book is a 'must read'. I loved it. I can hardly wait for the next one to come out.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely cover, and a wonderful sounding book! No need to enter me for the giveaway. The shipping would be outrageous!

When you say you love all your books I kind of understand. It is just like you love different people. They all have things to like about them.

ReplyDeleteHow fun, a book set in Australia! Sounds intriguing. I think I could visit LA but definitely wouldn't want to live there or call it home! Thanks to you and Rose for this interview and giveaway opportunity. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat interview. I love Jane Eyre too. I couldn't put it down.
ReplyDelete(please don't enter me in the giveaway. I tend to read just YA novels and romances with hot Navy SEAL dudes.)
I love to read, and always up for something new, especially something Aussie, as I sit here waiting for my permanent residency visa to be processed so that I can finally call here home! :)
ReplyDeleteI totally get the whole "liking your own writing" thing. I like all my own songs and if I didn't, I'd never put them out there for the public.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great read. I think the toughest decision would be, who gets the book??? Me? My Mum? My sister? Or countless lovely friends who I know would love it too... Mayhaps I could be selfishly generous - a book for me to share with all of them. :P
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Blog.
ReplyDeleteGreat interview.

The novel sounds great and I do love the cover. The concept of 'home' is close to my heart. I've found it's usually the people there that make it home rather than the place itself.
ReplyDeleteMichelle you can enter me I can always give it to a friend.
ReplyDeleteThis makes me want to visit Australia even more!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on a well-loved book, Rose. After reading this review and the other comments, I hope to read it soon.
