Sun Beat

~ Friday Flash Fiction ~

It’s been a while since I’ve posted a Friday Flash. During the week I was inspired to write this micro. Hope you enjoy…

The beat filled the air as the drummers pounded their instruments to notify everyone. The end was near. People in the street walked in time to the contagious rhythm. It brought a smile the crankiest of men and silenced the cries of babies. The breeze settled, but only after the thump had ceased. The sun was no longer held in the sky by the Force. For the first time in a decade, there would be darkness. A nightfall. They would sleep without light.

Imagine a life without darkness...

  1. A much sunnier picture of rare darkness than Asimov once painted for us. Sounds festive!
