I began to observe hair styles and dream up ways of creating characters beginning with the hair style.
It was fun. There are a million hairstyles in every shopping centre to get you inspired.
My favourite was an older lady … Her over bleached strands resembled an anaemic canary.
And then there was …. Her pony tail swayed into a perfect question mark.
And there are always a couple of perfectionists … She’d recently re-bob cut and obviously cement sprayed her hair to keep it in place.
The Challenge....
Ok.. your turn... check out the hairstyles below.. and in 15 words or less... spill out something fun. The beginnings of a character ... or just descriptive prose.

What fun!....Nicki had been having fun eating those plums straight off the tree..but no, how awkward, she ran her fingers through her hair and....they stuck!
ReplyDeleteShe wore her hair like a tangled web of lies, she couldn't see them when she looked in the mirror..but they were there for the world to see!
I'm naming them...'cause that's as far as my descriptive prose goes...and my sis said it was OK...
ReplyDeleteFirst one - "Purple Passion...but I didn't think it would be THIS purple!"
Second one - "I'm stunning...and no you cannot question that!"

ReplyDelete(blonde) her hair bubbled and fizzed like a usually serene stream after an uxpected downpour
pic 2. She knew she looked stunning, but no matter how many times she told herself to relax, she felt awkward, as if her hair had been gilded and was now too heavy for her neck. She had spent all her rent money on it, and knew it was her last chance to impress …
ReplyDeleteI'm stopping by late in the game in my visit here, so I'll just send weekend greetings your way :)
ReplyDeleteOh, I love the second one--that's a girl who doesn't just have perfect hair, but she's holding herself with poise that shows she's groomed in every way.
ReplyDeleteThe reference to a question mark is so clever!
ReplyDeleteLove Tracy's take on the 2nd pic. Here's my bodgey take on the first pic: Her hair looked like she'd fallen into a vat of shiraz grapes and she was still hanging herself out to dry.
ReplyDeleteI am hair obsessed, so I love 'hair watching'. I think hair is a great way to characterise someone!
ReplyDeleteUh-oh, no creativity right now, not until I eat my ice cream, but this does make me think of how little I do with my hair. I guess now when I see someone's hair it's going to make me think about how the hair expresses the person. Hmmm. LOL
ReplyDeleteI love the second picture , she looks elegant:)
ReplyDeleteGreat fun!
ReplyDeleteBy night only Lydia new that it wasn't just her hair that was purple ha ha haa! (Good job I'm not a thriller writer lol)
