PLAY! My son the DJ

My brother is a DJ, so he has the whole set up. His children get the added bonus at their birthday parties of a resident DJ. Thankfully my brother isn't too precious about his gear as he lets the kids add to the play list.

At my boy’s cousins' birthday party, Mr (nearly) 10 took it upon himself to become the DJ. He was playing some very funky music. In reality – he was playing. And the rest of the kids, including Miss 2 were dancing, jumping and running around.

Music adds to kids play.

  2. My boys and I often pop on the iPod and dance around the kitchen. Actually, they mostly slide and do Bruce Lee moves...but it's a form of dancing, nonetheless!

  3. Music is such a wonderful way to enhance and extend any activity. :)

My girls are really getting into musicals, we've watched 'Annie' and 'Heidi' - how cool to have a musical with YOUR own name in the title - as well as 'Oliver' and the recent 'High School Musical' and of course 'Glee', not to forget the musical episode of Buffy and "Dr Horrible" which both girls adore. Now the girls wander around singing their conversations to each other instead of talking, it is very cool.

  5. Every night when Dadda is at home we eat at the table and have to put on music to match the "language" of dinner, followed by a bit of a dance session afterwards. Although, Princess ALWAYS seems to be dancing nowdays, and she is singing her own made-up songs, almost tunefully!

I don't think anything makes kids happier than music and being able to move to it!

  7. Aww, I'm sure he was so sweet! But sounds like he has great taste in music and a natural affinity to being a DJ :)

  8. There is a family tradition of music in our home. Just this morning as I was making waffels our Grandson was playing a waltz he learned at music lessons the day before. His music teacher is his Great-grandfather, my Father. We are a lucky family to all live so close and enjoy music together. We all love to dance too!
